Transforming
fear into confidence
My Journey and Experience | With four years in the business, I have gathered a wealth of experience supporting diverse birthing scenarios, including hospital births, non-medicated and medicated labors, inductions, planned or emergency births (cesarean), first-time parents, subsequent parents, parents of multiples, and birthing individuals over the age of 35. I'm always eager to welcome various birthing and postpartum experiences to enrich my practice. Where I may lack in experience, it’s not a reflection of incompetence, but rather a commitment to continuous learning and development with the support of my peers and ongoing training. Becoming an entrepreneur has taught me about embracing discomfort and facing fears, both my own and those of others—a humbling journey that has granted me the wisdom needed to remain present and affirming to my clients.
My Philosophy and Questions I Explore | People often ask why I chose to become a doula. The simple answer is I care a lot—unlike the Netflix movie, my care is genuine. I believe in helping people and making a living without exploiting or disregarding humanity. Valuing authentic human relationships and the intrinsic wisdom held within our bodies is at the heart of my work. Birth work allows us to reconnect with our bodies in ways society often deprioritizes. I believe a healthy family begins at birth, and while the journey may not always be picturesque, what you build is worth striving for. I'm here to support you through the beginning of that journey. Why does parenthood need to be hard? Why does giving birth have to be painful? These are questions that resonate throughout my practice, with clients and fellow birth workers alike. My mission is to center and normalize these discussions, acknowledging the roller coaster of emotions and changes experienced and felt through the journey. Yes, fear plays a part, but it is not the whole of it. I strive to empower families to control their narratives, even when it feels impossible.
Heyyy Y’all, I'm Michelle, a Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula based in the vibrant little city of New Haven. By day, I wear the hat of a Social Worker and Therapist, and by passion, I embrace the role of a part-time doula. The magic of my work lies in witnessing humanity at its most transformative moments—a deeply satisfying experience for me. One thing you'll quickly learn about me is that my personality is inextricably linked to my purpose. When you choose my services, you’re in for a daily dose of wit and silliness, coupled with a bold and direct approach. Is it for everyone - No but if this speaks or resonates with you then I’m for you!
